Samsung Solve for Tomorrow
This nationwide contest is designed to boost interest and proficiency in Science, Technology, Engineering and MATH (STEM), and challenges public school teachers and students in grades 6-12 to show how STEM can be applied to help improve their local community.
THINK Challenges
Organized by a group of undergraduates from MIT, this competition is for high school students who are in the early stages of an original research project, rather than being fully completed. Selected finalists are invited to a 4-day all-expenses-paid trip to MIT’s campus to meet professors in their field of research, tour labs, and network with members of the THINK team! Finalists also have weekly mentorship meetings and are given $1000 to fund their research project.
Clean Tech Competition
Worldwide research and design challenge! The competition encourages students to develop a scientific understanding of real-world issues. The final event takes place at Stony Brook University in New York. Grand prize is $10,000 and the opportunity to develop a continued relationship with a mentor. All 10 finalists receive monetary awards; check the website for more details.
Regeneron Science Talent Search
Started in 1942 as the Westinghouse Science Talent Search, the Regeneron Science Talent Search (Regeneron STS) recognizes and empowers our nation’s most promising young scientists who are developing ideas that could solve society’s most urgent challenges. Each year, nearly 1,900 students enter the Regeneron STS, submitting original research in critically important scientific fields of study. Unique among high school competitions, the Regeneron STS focuses on identifying, inspiring, and engaging the most promising scientists among the nation’s high school seniors.
eCYBERMISSION
eCYBERMISSION is a web-based STEM competition for students in grades 6-9. Each team needs 2-4 students, an adult Team Advisor, and a community to explore. Teams can choose one of two paths; Science or Engineering. Teams will find a problem in their community that they want to explore using science or solve using engineering. First-place state winners will be awarded a U.S. Series EE Saving Bond worth $500 and will mature to $1000 per student.
The Central Nebraska Science and Engineering Fair is a STEAM competition that showcases students from junior and senior high schools found in counties located along and west of Highway 281 in Nebraska. Geographically our territory is over 50,000 square miles. This fair has been held since 1975. This fair was previously hosted by the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis, Nebraska. This fair is now hosted by the Biology Department of the University of Nebraska Kearney and is judged primarily by professors of the University of Nebraska Kearney as well as academics and industry professionals across Nebraska.
